A paddle boarder had a close encounter with a tiger shark near Kihei, Hawaii, Tuesday morning.A 57-year-old man was 200 feet from the shoreline when a 10 to 12-foot shark decided to take a bite from his stand-up inflatable paddleboard, knocking him off, Hawaii News Now reports. The board immediately deflated."When I caught a glimpse of the shark I was like 'damn this thing is bigger than my board,'" Larry Oberto told Maui Now."I was like in awe and at the same time, I don't know if I want to be here and I decided 'you know, I think I'm going to get out of here' because you know it's a shark." In 2010, Stacy Stanford and her husband were driving to a friend’s house in Salt Lake City when another car collided with theirs. The Stanfords’ car was totalled; the couple walked away with seemingly minor injuries. In 2012, however, the Supreme Court ruled that it was up to the states to decide whether they would accept federal dollars to expand their Medicaid programs under the … [Read more...] about The Grassroots Activists Who Got Medicaid on the Ballot in Utah
A multi-millionaire businessman accused of organising the assassination of Maltese journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia claims he was covertly passed information on the investigation into the killing by the prime minister’s right-hand man. The allegations raise fresh questions about the extent to which senior government figures tried to interfere in the investigation into the car bombing in an attempt to cover up the crime. Yorgen Fenech told a court in the capital Valletta on Thursday that he was kept updated on the police investigation by Keith Schembri, the government’s chief of staff and a close friend of Joseph Muscat, the prime minister. “Keith would inform me continuously, in real time,” Mr Fenech said. In what local media described as “shocking testimony”, Mr Fenech said he was told by Mr Schembri that his telephone was being tapped and was tipped off about a raid conducted by police in December 2017, two months after the … [Read more...] about Chief suspect in murder of Maltese journalist says he got tip-offs from government official
