High school student devotes to charity works
A high school student in Gia Lai Province has set up 15 charity projects to help students from low-income families. Le Van Phuc Le Van Phuc, a 12th grader at Hung Vuong High School, is leading the Fly to Sky Charity Club. Phuc has had outstanding academic achievements. He has been an outstanding student for eleven academic years and won third prize at provincial and national geography competitions. He was also selected to attend the 8th Vietnam Youth Union National Congress. "I have loved geography since I was in 10th grade. I started reading more books about it which helped me a lot during the competitions," he said. "I have never stopped reading books and online. Continuous learning has expanded my vision and I have also visited authors to learn more." Phuc will be admitted to the university after winning third prize in the national geography competition. Jerusalem: Three youngsters from an Israeli school will travel to India next week to launch a satellite — Duchifat 3 — designed and built by them aboard PSLV C48 from ISRO's Sriharikota launch site. Alon Abramovich, Meitav Assulin and Shmuel Aviv Levi, all 17 to 18 years old, are students of Sha'ar HaNegev High school in Israel's southern region. They will be leaving for India on Monday evening and the satellite launch is on December 11. Duchifat 3 is the third in the series of Israeli student-made satellites. Jointly built by Herzliya Science Center and Sha'ar Hanegev High School students, the satellite is designed to serve children from across the country to "observe the Earth". Mothers of school leavers are celebrating the occasion by hosting 'Moolies' trips, where they treat themselves to cocktails and massages while on a lavish vacation. Mother-of-four Michelle McGregor jetted off with nine fellow school mums from Sydney to Bali, to mark her son's Year-12 graduation. Ms McGregor said the occasion closed the end of her son's schooling in a 'beautiful way, Sydney Morning Herald reported. 'You've all had that common bond of making sure your kids are safe and happy,' Ms McGregor told the publication. The Lafayette Parish school system is adjusting its assistant principal ranks to relieve disciplinary burdens at four high schools after an assist from the School Board.Acadiana High, Ovey Comeaux High, Lafayette High and Northside High were allotted additional part-time assistant principal positions to address the workload associated with discipline referrals; each school had on average two discipline referrals per student during the 2018-19 school year.Based on school population, Acadiana High had roughly 3,500 referrals, Comeaux High had roughly 2,750 referrals, Lafayette High had about 3,900 referrals and Northside High had about 1,300 referrals, using school population data from the Louisiana Department of Education.
