Apple on Wednesday clarified its stance on future integration of Intel's Thunderbolt protocol, saying Macs powered by custom-designed Apple silicon ARM chips will continue to support the connectivity technology. Intel on Wednesday announced new details about its upcoming Thunderbolt 4 standard, though compatibility with Apple silicon Macs remains to be seen. The Thunderbolt 4 standard will be backward compatible with previous Intel ports and cables, and will also be cross-compatible with USB4 . Compared to Thunderbolt 3 , it'll offer a number of tangible benefits to consumers while retaining the USB-C connector type. Kuo: Apple’s major product lines enjoy healthy demand in Q4, but AirPods shipments muted
TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in a note to investors on Tuesday reported stronger than expected demand for the tech giant's major device lines, including high-end iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max models. According to a recent survey, demand for Apple's top-tier iPhone 12 models, the new iPad Air , Apple Watch Series 6 and SE , and M1 MacBook models is better than expected moving into the lucrative holiday season, Kuo said. Apple's stock split has completed, with shareholders on Friday now owning four times the number of shares in the iPhone maker they did yesterday, as the company attempts to make the stock "more accessible" to smaller investors. Originally announced on July 30 and approved by Apple's Board of Directors, the four-for-one stock split will increase the number of common shares available in the company from approximately 12.6 billion to 50.4 billion , for shares outstanding and the number of authorized shares combined. Wedbush raises AAPL price target to $175, expects ‘eye popping’ earnings
Wedbush has raised its Apple price target to $175 on expectations that the company will announce "eye popping" iPhone shipments and earnings for the December quarter. In a note to investors seen by AppleInsider , lead analyst Daniel Ives writes that recent Wedbush checks of Apple's supply give indicate that the " iPhone 12 supercycle hype has become a reality." The analyst believes that the Apple supply chain clocked iPhone builds in the low- to mid-90 millions. That's roughly a 35% increase from Ives' initial iPhone build forecast from 2020. Ives notes that Wall Street is currently modeling Apple 220 million iPhone units in 2021.
