The gritty stretch of Eagle Rock Boulevard with its nondescript industrial buildings, faded signage and acres of chain-link fencing seems an unlikely place to find one of fashion’s fastest-rising stars silk-screening T-shirts for strangers in a parking lot. Then again, Reese Cooper is about as unlikely as they come. At age 21, the London-to-L.A. transplant, who has a handful of collections under his belt, has goods on the shelves of London-based retailer Selfridges as well as Barneys New York, the latter of which will be the exclusive retailer of his inaugural fall and winter 2019 women’s collection. Cooper’s path to this parking lot — and Barneys — began with a Bathing Ape T-shirt. “I was living in London and I was about 14 or 15,” he said. “And it was this super-bright, vibrant camo [print], and I just had no idea what it was. But I was super-attracted to it. I found out there was a store not 5 miles from me, so I ended up just … [Read more...] about Reese Cooper is designing tomorrow’s heritage brand today

Alcohol has always been a sensitive category for advertisers to walk the straight and narrow—and for good reason. Organizations such as the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States (DISCUS) have been self-regulating and working with the Federal Trade Commission to make sure advertising policies are properly adhered to. But like all government-monitored regulatory environments, things move slowly and do not keep up with the dynamics of advertising trends and innovations. One big glaring issue with Legal Drinking Age (LDA) compliance in digital advertising is that the rules haven’t changed since the late 1990s. They are based on using panel information from publishers’ content as a proxy to evaluate if at least 71.8 percent of the average audience on a given website is 21-years-old or older. Artesia, New Mexico (CNN)On his first day of training to become a Border Patrol agent, Isidro Urbina was given a card with a photo of a fallen agent on it. It's a tradition on the first day of class here at the Border Patrol Academy. All new recruits get a different card -- a "silent partner," they're called -- as a way of honoring the 127 agents who have died in the line of duty while reminding them of the dangers of the job. The agents-in-training will carry the cards throughout their career. Urbina is proud to wear the card in the chest pocket of his uniform, over his heart. But he doesn't need the reminder. The man in the photo is his uncle. "I don't want to quit, because I know he's watching," Urbina said. "He was 34 years old when he died, and I'm 34 years old entering the Border Patrol. It feels like I'm finishing what he started."
