I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! viewers tuning into Saturday night’s episode to watch the latest antics from Gwrych Castle were left bitterly disappointed.

Fans had been hoping to witness the female campmates take on the terrifying late night Bushtucker Trial that was teased at the end of Friday’s installment.

While others were hoping to hear campmate Ruthie Henshall divulge more saucy tales from her royal romance with Prince Edward.

However, as Saturday’s showkicked off at the earlier time of 8:45pm it became suddenly apparent that no new material would be shown.

Instead, viewers got a carefully edited ‘best of’ episode.

Hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly warned from the start that they were not going out live from the castle grounds as usual.

They told fans the pre-recorded special would bring some highlights of the past week as well as a few clips that hadn’t made it to air so far.

The move prompted many disgruntled viewers to take to social media to moan their weekend had been ‘ruined.’

“We’re in the middle of a lockdown, with nothing to do but watch TV and #ImACeleb put on a recap after one week??” raged one.

“Why have they decided to do this!?” one demanded to know.

“A recap episode? it’s only been 6 days,” fumed another.

Other fans said they immediately switched off being met with scenes of the celebs entering the castle on day one.

However, others said that ITV made up for the recap by showing some scenes involving celebs who have not had much air time so far.

AJ Pritchard and Jessica Plummer were both featured in the special, after regular viewers complained they had not seen much of the campmates so far.

Ant and Dec will be back to business as usual tonight though as they present a live show direct from the castle grounds.
