Hull FC player ratings and offer your verdict on display in Cup win

May 11, 2018 by www.hulldailymail.co.uk

Starters

Jamie Shaul: Worked tremendously hard out of the backfield to help Hull FC set the tempo of the game early on and scored a fantastic 80-metre try. The full-back also managed to recover from a hit off the ball and came up with some solid defensive contributions. He was rightfully sin-binned in the final minute for wasting time. 8

Bureta Faraimo: The winger took his two tries really well as he caught a looping pass from Jake Connor to dive over and ran 90 metres for his second after picking up a loose ball. But it’s an assessment of his entire performance and his number goes down a couple due to a shocking high tackle on Shaun Robinson which saw him sent off. 6

Josh Griffin: The centre was again an absolute machine in terms of metres after contact. Not only did he help a depleted pack go forward, he powered through the line to set up Connor’s first score before the playmaker returned the favour when Griffin muscled his way over later in the first half. 8

Dean Hadley: Dependable again as he played out of position and pulled off a remarkable tackle to stop Josh Hardcastle from a second-half try. Hull’s left edge did struggle a couple of times to contain the Featherstone attack. 7

Fetuli Talanoa: Solid during the first half, the winger went down with what looked to be an ankle sprain just after the break and didn’t return. 6

Carlos Tuimavave: The stand-in playmaker also left the field due to an ankle problem after starting alongside Connor in the halves. 6

Jake Connor: The maverick back stepped into the organising pivot role and was sensational. Connor scored two tries and set up scores for Griffin and Faraimo. The loss of Marc Sneyd potentially for the rest of the season won’t be as big if Connor continues to play like that. (Starman) 9

Chris Green: Solid display from the prop who started in place of Scott Taylor and didn’t take a backwards step. 7

Danny Houghton: Kept Hull ticking over during a key period in the game early on as they pulled away, while he provided his usual defensive effort. 7

Josh Bowden: Taken from the field in the first half due to a knee injury, the prop wasn’t on the field long enough to make a serious impact. 6

Sika Manu: Ferocious as ever from the back rower who didn’t shake any of his responsibilities. Lost his head a little in the final quarter as Hull were brought down to Featherstone’s level. 7

Mark Minichiello: Much like his fellow veteran second rower, Minichiello carried a big workload for Hull in light of several missing players in the pack and did a good job. 7

Joe Westerman: Hull’s signing of the loose-forward is becoming more and more important with every injury they suffer. Not only is he another body, the former England international provided an all-action display in his first start for Hull since 2015. 8

Bench

Jez Litten: Stepped up and produced a calm performance when he was tasked with going into the halves following Tuimavave’s injury. Whilst not perfect, he didn’t let the occasion get to him. 7

Masimbaashe Matongo: Featherstone tried to bully the powerful prop but it didn’t work. He is playing more and more like a seasoned professional with every game he plays. A really promising display as he continues to progress. 8

Danny Washbrook: Maybe harshly sin-binned for leaving his knee in the tackle, the veteran was solid when he moved to right centre following a reshuffle which saw Griffin switch sides once Talanoa left the field. 7

Jordan Lane: Another young player who is coming on leaps and bounds every week and he withstood some physical tackling and kept fighting away. 7
